Watched

Blew up in flames while I was forced to watch. Watch it all fall apart helplessly. Watch the burning memories I couldn’t save become ashes. Watch as I lost grasp of all control. Watch as my screams only became static noise everyone tones out. Watched my lifelines become the very serpents who injected the poison. Watched as I lay alone and stripped. Watched as hope disintegrated with every fleeting second. Watched the ashes come to be the only thing in sight. Watched as they blew towards me, mocking me, reminding me of all the dead dreams I couldn’t rescue. Watched until I couldn’t anymore. Watched the darkness that emerged when I closed my eyes, I wondered if this time I’d come back to life like I did before.
