2 lbs Beef (to shred)

6-7 Eggs

2 Tbsp of flour



Sauce :

1 1/2 Green tomatoes

6 Dry tree chili peppers

2 Garlic cloves

1/4 Onion


Beef broth

Place the beef to cook in a pot to heat with water covering it. Add 1/2 onion, 3 garlic cloves and a pinch of salt.

In order to make the batter, pour in the egg whites in a large bowl (make sure to save the yolks in a separate bowl since we will add to the batter later). Pour in the egg whites one by one into the larger bowl making sure none of the yolk falls in. Then batter the egg whites until they start to become fluffy. After, slowly add in the egg yolks one by one while continuing to batter.

Add 1 tsp of salt and continue to batter until fluffy.

Place the shredded beef in a bowl. Add the flour and mix to make sure it is evenly spread. This will make it easier for the egg batter to stick. Then, place oil to heat on a pan. Once the oil is hot, with a large spoon, scoop the shredded beef into the egg batter and place into the pan. Once the corners start to brown,flip. When both sides are brown, remove from oil and place on a napkin so that any excess oil is absorbed.


Place the green tomatoes to boil in the same broth used to cook the beef. Place oil to heat on a pan. Once the oil is very hot, add the tree chili peppers along with the two garlic cloves. Flip the peppers making sure they do not burn. Then, remove the peppers and garlic. Add the tomatoes, peppers, and garlic cloves into the blender along with 1/4 of an onion, and 1 tsp of salt. Add 1 cup of beef broth and blend.

Place oil to heat in a large pan, once hot, slowly add the sauce and stir. Let it boil for about 15 minutes. Once the sauce has boiled, add in the tortas de carne and spread evenly. Wait for the sauce and tortas de carne to come together for another 15 minutes. After that, your Tortas de carne are ready. Served ideally with white rice and beans. Now it’s time to enjoy!
